Forgive me for lying to you in yesterday's post. I didn't read How Not To Look Old; I perused it while standing in Borders. Although three college credits were once bestowed on me for speed reading, the fact that I am reading a book about aging should question my cognitive abilities. Unless I have early onset Alzheimer's, here are the tips -- from memory, mind you -- that I garnered from "aging sucks." (Who am I? What was I writing about? Just joshing.) As a memory aid, I ran over to Saks and tested the products mentioned below.
- Wear pink lipstick - Benefit Color Plump, Chanel Waikiki, Clinique Bamboo Pink, Laura Mercier Pink Champagne. I ended up purchasing Phiphi, a bit darker version of Chanel Waikiki .
- Lip definer - Chanel Tawny (too mauvey for me), Mac Creme 'O Spice ( also too mauvey for me). I use Bobbi Brown Baby.
- Lip gloss - L'Oreal Paris Soft Pink (I like the color but not the consistency), Mac Prrrr (good color and consistency).
- Nail polish - Essie Limo Scene (I have Essie Delicacy which is very close in color), L'Oreal Pink I'm In Love (great everyday color).
- Brightening powder - Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (Forgot to check that out).
- Wear cream blush - Nars Penny Lane (the same color and feel of Revlon Cream blush in Rosy Glow).
- Smashbox Photo Finish (Charla swears by this product. I have this but tend to use it very sparingly).
- Wear concealer. Cle De Peau Beaute concealer (Saks did not have this, but this also was the only concealer that Charla wears. I am in need of a new concealer that doesn't camp out in my wrinkles, so I am ordering this one today.)
- Jeans should be 1/8 to 1/4 inch from the ground.
Since I am a mere peanut in size, I didn't find the sections on "looking ten pounds less" something that I needed to ingrain in my tiny boomer brain, but the next time I am in the bookstore, I will give the book another perusal. Although I told you to buy the book -- and I love books and have librarian-envy -- I don't like clutter so I tend to go to the library -- or stand in a bookstore and read.![]()
